Crisis? What Crisis? China’s Manufacturing Jumps as Coronavirus Cripples Global Supply Chains

Image
China’s manufacturing rebounded in March to record an expansion as authorities relaxed anti-coronavirus disease controls and allowed factories to reopen, an official survey showed Tuesday. The spike came as the U.S. and rest of the world shut down businesses and furloughed workers. The boost reinforces the argument that holds as long as the U.S. economy remains in question, China will seek to enter the perceived power vacuum created during the pandemic – likely at the expense of U.S. manufacturing and supply capabilities. The ruling Chinese Communist Party however simply claims it is reviving the world’s second-largest economy after declaring victory over the coronavirus that started in the southern city of Wuhan last December. The purchasing managers’ index issued by the Chinese statistics bureau and the official China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing rose to 52 from February’s record low of 35.7 on a 100-point scale on which numbers above 50 show activity increasing, accr

NY Man Tested Positive for Coronavirus, Stopped at Florida Airport

Authorities successfully stopped a New York, man who tested positive for the novel coronavirus, at the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) on Friday — a direct result of the orders issued by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). The National Guard successfully stopped the man, who arrived in Jacksonville from a New York City airport. According to reports, he had previously tested positive for the coronavirus but thought he had recovered enough to travel. However, his symptoms returned. Authorities stopped him at an airport checkpoint, and he was transferred to a hospital. Those who were seated near him are reportedly being treated by the CDC, according to News4Jax. While the Florida governor has refrained from issuing a statewide stay-at-home order, he has taken aggressive action to curb the spread of the virus by targeting travelers fleeing coronavirus hotspots, which now include New Orleans and New York City. Several major Florida airports are carrying out DeSantis’s order. Traveler

Idaho First State to Protect Women’s Sports from Transgender Athletes

Idaho Gov. Brad Little (R) signed a bill into law Monday that made his state the first in the nation to protect women’s sports from transgender athletes. The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act (HB 500) bans males who claim to be female from competing on girls’ and women’s athletic teams in public K-12 schools, colleges and universities. At the same time, Little signed into law HB 509, which prohibits changes in gender on birth certificates. BREAKING NEWS: #Idaho and @governorlittle decided a pandemic was a good time to target trans kids and ban them from sports. Terrible. #VetoHB500 #IDleg #HB500 https://t.co/fV42ew2FuK — National Center for Transgender Equality (@TransEquality) March 31, 2020 Supposed supporter of women’s rights Planned Parenthood condemned Little for signing the bills into law. “We condemn Governor Little’s actions and the actions of dozens of Idaho legislators who are so focused on pleasing their bigoted base instead of doing what is right,” said Mistie T

Khan’s London: Police Want Public to Report Coronavirus ‘Hate Crimes’

London’s Metropolitan Police Force is appealing to the public to report “hate crime related to the Covid-19 pandemic”. “A hate crime is when someone commits a crime against you because of your disability, gender, identity, race, or sexual orientation, religion, or any other actual or perceived difference,” intoned an officer identified as “Constable Paul” in the video message the Met shared to social media. “It doesn’t just mean physical violence,” he assured potential hate reporters. “Someone using offensive language towards you, or harassing you because of who you are, or who they think you are, is also a crime,” he suggested. Are you a victim or witness of hate crime related to the COVID-19 pandemic? We do not tolerate hatred or abuse directed at communities because of their race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity. If you experience hate crime, please tell us & we will act. pic.twitter.com/7K8nrfWAA1 — Metropolitan Police #StayHomeSaveLives (@met

Obama Fires At Trump Over Coronavirus. Cruz Turns Attack Straight Toward Biden, Pelosi.

Apparently Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has watched the classic film “The Hunt for Red October,” in which the Soviet submarine V. K. Konovalov launches a torpedo at the defecting Red October submarine but the torpedo ultimately winds up destroying the V. K. Konovalov itself. On Tuesday, seizing upon a story in the Los Angeles Times that slammed the Trump administration for relaxing gas mileage and emissions requirements for auto manufacturers, former President Barack Obama took a shot at President Trump and his administration as Obama targeted the youth vote for 2020. But he didn’t reckon with Cruz (R-TX) who took Obama’s words and deftly turned them into an attack on former Vice President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Obama tweeted: “We’ve seen all too terribly the consequences of those who denied warnings of a pandemic. We can’t afford any more consequences of climate denial. All of us, especially young people, have to demand better of our government at every level a

Joe Scarborough Applauds MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell: ‘I Salute Him,’ ‘I’d Like To Make 50,000 Masks’

Though some media figures denounced MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell for invoking God during the COVID-19 press conference on Monday, Joe Scarborough of MSNBC is praising the CEO for shifting his company’s production to make up to 50,000 medical masks a day. “Everybody was attacking this MyPillow guy,” Scarborough said on Tuesday, as reported by The Hill. “Here’s my thought: If you’re going to make 50,000 masks and give them to doctors and nurses on the front lines in New York City, I’m fine with you going up.” “Say whatever you want to say,” he continued. “Just get the masks to the people on the front line, and we as Americans should salute anybody doing that. I’m not making 50,000 masks. If I had the capability of making 50,000 masks, I’d like to make 50,000 masks. I can’t. That guy can. I salute him.” Co-host Willie Geist agreed with Scarborough as he, too, invoked God. “If Mike Lindell, the founder of MyPillow, takes 75% of his manufacturing ability right now, God bless him. If he want

Judd Apatow Says Prosecute Trump and Republicans: ‘They Are All Murderers’

Hollywood writer-director Judd Apatow launched another scathing attack on President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress, describing them as “murderers” whose actions have caused “thousands of deaths.” On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell argued that the efforts of Democrats in Congress to impeachment the president on false grounds had distracted from the impending threat of the Chinese coronavirus. “It came up while we were tied down in the impeachment trial,” McConnell said in an interview on The Hugh Hewitt Show. “And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment.” Responding to McConnell’s claim, Apatow suggested that McConnell and his fellow Republicans should face prosecution, without specifying what charges they should face. “I think [the Senate Majority Leader] and all of these politicians should be prosecuted when this is done for the lies which cost thousands of deaths,” he wrote. “He knows Tru

Rob Reiner: ‘Donald Trump’s Mental Illness Is Killing People’

Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner is keeping up his verbal attacks on President Donald Trump as the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage around the world, claiming in no uncertain terms that the president’s “mental illness” is in fact “killing people.” The Stand By Me director tweeted out his allegation Tuesday in seven short words. Donald Trump’s mental illness is killing people. — Rob Reiner (@robreiner) March 31, 2020 Reiner’s message is a blunter version of his tweet on Saturday in which he appeared to suggest that President Trump could be an accessory to murder. “I’m not a lawyer, but it seems to me if you’re the most influential person in America and you tell the public that a deadly viral pandemic is a hoax & countless citizens accept that as reality, do nothing to protect themselves then end up dead, you might be an accessory,” Rob Reiner wrote. I’m not a lawyer, but it seems to me if you’re the most influential person in America and you tell the public that a dea

90-Year-Old Belgian Dies After Offering Ventilator to ‘Younger’ Coronavirus Patients

A 90-year-old woman in Belgium died from a COVID-19 Coronavirus infection after refusing a ventilator. She told doctors to “keep this for the younger” patients. A Belgian hospital admitted 90-year-old Suzanne Hoylaerts on March 20 when her medical condition deteriorated after contracting COVID-19. Knowing there is a global shortage of ventilators, Hoylaerts refused the life-sustaining instrument, the Daily Mail reported. The woman from Binkom first sought medical attention after experiencing shortness of breath and a decreased appetite. After testing positive for Coronavirus, doctors placed her in isolation from all family. As her conditioned worsened, doctors approached her about using a ventilator, she said, “I don’t want to use artificial respiration. Save it for younger patients. I already had a good life.” Two days later, she passed away. Family members expressed confusion as to how the loved one contracted the virus. They said she stayed home and complied with lockdown measu

Andrew Cuomo: Brother Chris Cuomo Could Have Infected My Mother Matilda with Coronavirus

Image
Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday told New Yorkers that his brother, Chris Cuomo, who recently tested positive for coronavirus, could have infected their mother, Matilda Cuomo, with the disease. Andrew said that his mother, age 88, was at Chris’s house two weeks ago. “I said, ‘That was a mistake,’” the governor recalled during his press conference Tuesday. “I said, ‘Chris, you can’t have mom at the house,’ and he said, ‘No, no, no. Mom is lonely. She wants to be at the house. I feel bad she’s cooped up in the apartment.’” Andrew recalled that he told his brother, “You bring her to the house, you expose her to a lot of things.” He said that his discussion with his brother helped him realize he needed to detail specific guidelines for older residents, prompting him to create “Matilda’s Law.” “Love sometimes needs to be a little smarter than just reactive, and we had a whole discussion,” he recalled. The governor said that if his mother were still at his brother’s house, she would now li

Lawmakers Move To Rescind Stimulus For Kennedy Center After Musician Layoffs

Congressman Bryan Steil (R-WI) has introduced a bill to rescind $25 million in stimulus funding for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts — the home of the National Symphony Orchestra and Washington National Opera — after the organization furloughed nearly 100 orchestra members immediately after the stimulus bill was signed. “Some in Washington felt it was important to spend $25 million of taxpayer dollars on the Kennedy Center when there are obviously bigger needs right now. This is frivolous spending in the midst of a national emergency. Coronavirus requires a serious and targeted response,” said Steil. The new bill, which has been co-sponsored by 13 other legislators, would revoke the center’s bailout and give it “back to the American people,” says House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), who is a co-sponsor. “If an organization is receiving assistance from the federal government, we expect them to take care of their workers. As we take further Congressional action to fight

‘Borat’ Director Larry Charles Accuses Trump of ‘Deliberate Criminal Ineptitude During This Pandemic’

Borat director Larry Charles is whipping up coronavirus hysteria, calling President Donald Trump a “deliberate criminal” and suggesting that his “ineptitude” caused death during the spread of the Chinese virus. “To honor the dead, those of us that live must tell the future generations about the deliberate criminal ineptitude of Donald Trump during this pandemic,” read the caption over a photo of Trump’s face, which Charles shared to Twitter on Tuesday. pic.twitter.com/RZr4QyHOys — Larry Charles (@larrycharlesism) March 31, 2020 Despite Charles’s meme meltdown over President Trump on social media, a recent Gallup poll shows that the majority of Americans, 60 percent, actually approve of the president’s response to the Wuhan coronavirus. Moreover, Democrat governors — such as California governor Gavin Newsom and New York governor Andrew Cuomo — have praised President Trump with regards to his handling of the coronavirus epidemic. Governor Newsom had recently told reporters that

Bernie Sanders to Seth Myers: Coronavirus Shows ‘How Dangerous’ Trump Is

Image
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told Late Night host Seth Meyers on Monday that President Trump is the “most dangerous president in modern history” and added that “we’re seeing just how dangerous” the president is during the coronavirus pandemic. Meyers, who hosted the show from his home, interviewed Sanders, his “first remote guest,” during the show’s return on Monday. Late Night has not aired an in-studio episode since March 11. Meyers asked Sanders if he believes he has a viable path forward to win the Democrat nomination — a point that has fallen through the cracks in recent weeks with the emergence of the coronavirus. While Sanders, who broadcasted from his home in Burlington, Vermont, said he did believe a path — albeit, a narrow one — existed, he committed to rallying the base for Joe Biden (D) in the event that the former vice president secures the nomination instead. “What I have said, Seth, from day one, when I announced, that it is absolutely imperative that we defeat Donald T

GOP Governor Bans Biological Males From Competing Against Girls

On Monday, Republican Governor Brad Little of Idaho signed the Fairness for Women in Sports Act, which protects girls sports as single-sex, barring biologically male transgender girls from competing against biological girls. “The sports ban applies to all sports teams sponsored by public schools, colleges and universities,” NBC News reported. “A girls’ or women’s team will not be open to transgender students who identify as female.” “Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field. Allowing males to compete in girls’ sports destroys fair competition and women’s athletic opportunities,” Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Vice President of U.S. Legal Division Kristen Waggoner said in a statement sent to The Daily Wire. ADF is representing high school female athletes in a federal lawsuit seeking to preserve single-sex girls sports. “We commend Gov. Little for signing the Fairness for Women in Sports Act into law so that those opportunities will be protected in Idaho,” Waggoner

It Wasn’t Just Trump, Inspector General Finds FBI Routinely Violates Procedures In FISA Warrant Applications

The FBI routinely violates its own procedures when applying for warrants to spy on American citizens, a new report from the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) found. In a memo dated March 30, Inspector General Michael Horowitz followed up on an earlier report from December 2019, which found the FBI violated its own procedures when obtaining Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants against Carter Page, a former adviser to President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. The OIG found that the FBI violated what’s known as the Woods Procedures, which were implemented in 2001 “following errors in numerous FISA applications submitted to the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court] in FBI counterterrorism investigations.” The Woods Procedures are mean to “minimize factual inaccuracies in FISA applications and to ensure that statements contained in applications are ‘scrupulously accurate,’” Horowitz wrote. After its massive report late last year, which found 17 “in

WaPo: Coronavirus Rules Help DHS Eject Border Crossers in Just 96 Minutes

President Donald Trump’s border reforms are helping the Department of Homeland Security to eject most southern migrants in just 96 minutes, according to a report in the Washington Post. “Migrants who cross into the United States illegally are being expelled to Mexico in an average of 96 minutes under emergency coronavirus measures now in force across the U.S. southern border, according to three U.S. officials with knowledge of the latest government statistics,” the newspaper reported Monday. The report said: Under the new rules, U.S. agents are processing migrants from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras “in the field” before they are able to set foot inside a U.S. Border Patrol station. The migrants are then whisked back to the border and sent into Mexico. … The flow of unauthorized border crossings has plunged since the emergency measures were implemented on March 21, down from more than 1,000 per day to fewer than 600 on Sunday, the latest statistics show. A Doctor Was Pulled Over For Speeding. The Trooper Gave Her N95 Masks Instead Of A Ticket.

A doctor who was pulled over for speeding was shocked when the Minnesota state trooper who stopped her gave her his small stash of N95 protective masks instead of a ticket. CNN reported that Dr. Sarosh Ashraf Janua, a cardiologist working with a coronavirus quarantine unit, was pulled over on March 21, but was soon moved to tears by the trooper’s generosity. Janua wrote on Facebook that when she handed the trooper her Massachusetts driver’s license he asked what she was doing way out in Minnesota. She told him she was “here every month for my work as a locums cardiologist.” She said the trooper then returned to his patrol car to run her license and when he returned he gave her a firm lecture about speeding and taking up resources if she were in an accident and wouldn’t be able to help patients. “Feeling thoroughly chastised, I waited for him to write me a ticket. Instead, he told me he was going to let me off with a warning,” she wrote. “As I sputtered to apologize and say thank yo

Actress Jane Lynch Pleads To Have Trump Briefings Taken Off Air: ‘Please. Please.’

On Monday, actress Jane Lynch pleaded for news organization to refuse to air White House press briefings from President Donald Trump as we fight the China-originated novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. During the president’s briefings, vital information about COVID-19 is communicated to the public from Trump, yes, but also from medical health professionals like Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx. “Please stop covering Trump’s briefing/rallies,” pleaded Lynch. “Please. Please.” Please stop covering Trump’s briefing/rallies. Please. Please. — Jane Lynch (@janemarielynch) March 30, 2020 Some news originations are apparently on the same page as the Emmy winner. For example, CNN cut away during a Trump presser on Monday when the president announced “My Pillow” CEO Mike Lindell will be producing 50,000 N95 masks a day, starting Friday. The New York Times has floated the idea of networks refusing to air the vital Trump briefings, too, citing “misinformation.” MSNBC host Rachel Madd

Houston Mayor Pleads with Criminals to ‘Chill’ Until Coronavirus Pandemic Over

Image
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) on Sunday urged would-be criminals to remain in their homes and “chill” until the Chinese coronavirus epidemic subsides in the Texas city. “The best way to help police officers is to not commit a crime,” Turner told reporters during a press conference on his city’s latest efforts to combat the deadly illness. “Until the coronavirus is resolved, criminals, take a break.” “Stay home and don’t commit any crimes. Thay way, they will stay safe and out of jail and police offers will stay safe and go home to there families,” the mayor added. “Crooks, criminals, you chill.” Earlier in his press briefing, Turner confirmed 53 new coronavirus cases in Houston, bringing the city’s total number to 937. 9 people have died from the illness and 57 recovered. 11 police officers and firefighters have contracted the virus, according to Houston Police Department (HPD) Chief Art Acevedo. As of Sunday, Texas has 2,552 total cases and 34 deaths. Turner noted the jump

Franklin Graham’s ‘Samaritan’s Purse’ Builds Field Hospital in Central Park

Franklin Graham, the late son of televangelist Billy Graham, is using his charity Samaritan’s Purse to build a field hospital in New York City’s Central Park. Samaritan’s Purse brought in four trailers worth of gear, including beds, tents, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ten respirators for the most seriously ill patients, the New York Post reported. Dr. Elliott Tenpenny, who has experience treating Ebola patients in West Africa, refugees in Iraq, and earthquake victims in Ecuador, will be leading a team of 70 health care workers from across the country who will be staffing this field hospital. “This is honestly the most improbable place we’ve ever been,” he told the Post. “I never would have guessed we’d come to New York City with something like this. But New York never thought it would be dealing with a pandemic, either.” By 8 a.m., 20 volunteers from New York helped 50 Samaritan’s Purse employees set up the first of 14 tents. The tents will host 68 patients, including t

Ford and GE Plan to Make 50,000 Ventilators in Michigan in 100 Days

Image
America’s industrial might is being marshaled to fight the coronavirus. Ford announced Monday that it is partnering with GE Healthcare to build 50,000 ventilators in Michigan in 100 days. The critical care devices will be built by United Autoworker union members that Ford’s Rawsonville Components Plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Ford said production of the ventilators in Michigan will begin the week of April 20th. It expects to produce 1,500 by the end of April, 12,000 by the end of May, and 50,000 by July 4. After that, the plant will produce up to 30,000 ventilators per month. The plant will produce a simplified ventilator design licensed by GE Healthcare from Florida-based Airon Corp. “The Ford and GE Healthcare teams, working creatively and tirelessly, have found a way to produce this vitally needed ventilator quickly and in meaningful numbers,” said Jim Hackett, Ford’s president and CEO. “By producing this ventilator in Michigan, in strong partnership with the UAW, we can help he

House Democrats Beg AG Barr to ‘Release as Many Prisoners as Possible’

Image
House Democrats, led by Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), are urging Attorney General Bill Barr to “release as many prisoners as possible” as states work to handle the coronavirus outbreaks in their states. Both Nadler and Subcommittee on Crime Chairwoman Karen Bass (D-CA) wrote a letter to Barr on Monday, urging him to “do the right thing and exercise this authority and immediately move to release medically-compromised, elderly and pregnant prisoners from the custody of the BOP [Bureau of Prisons].” “In addition, we urge that you use every tool at your disposal to release as many prisoners as possible, to protect them from COVID-19,” the letter reads in part. “Along those lines, and as you move forward with planning for and executing the release of what we hope will be an appropriately sizable number of BOP prisoners, we urge you to consider the issues raised below,” it continues: On the evening of March 28, 2020, we sadly learned of the first death of a prisoner in the cus

Franklin Graham Blasts Pelosi For Saying Trump Was ‘Fiddling’: ‘I Wonder What She Was Doing’

Reverend Franklin Graham came forth on Facebook Monday to blast House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her scurrilous attack on President Trump in which she stated he was “fiddling while people are dying.” Graham wrote: CNN reported that Nancy Pelosi accused President Donald J. Trump of “fiddling while people are dying.” What??? Yesterday President Trump had more than a full day, meeting at the White House with key supply chain distribution leaders on COVID-19. Is that fiddling? Then he moved to the Rose Garden where he and the coronavirus task force held a 1.5 hour briefing to keep America informed. Is that fiddling? No, President Trump has been working to do everything he can to help our nation. I wonder what Nancy Pelosi was doing? It could be said that she was the one who caused delays in people getting the help they need because she was “fiddling” with the economic stimulus package, trying to work in political agendas and funding for pet projects. Pray for President Trump, Vice Preside

Texas Tech Prof. Would ‘Reconsider’ Atheism if Donald Trump Dies of Chinese Virus

Texas Tech University Professor Richard Wigmans told his colleagues in an email last week that he might “reconsider” his atheism if President Donald Trump died after contracting the Wuhan coronavirus. According to a report by Campus Reform, Texas Tech Professor Richard Wigmans has come under fire this week for an email he sent to faculty members in which he suggested that he would reconsider his lack of faith in God if President Trump contracted the Wuhan coronavirus and died. Wigmans, who focuses his researches particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology, is referred to on his faculty profile as “the world’s foremost expert on calorimetry” for particle physics experiments. Calorimetry refers to the measurement of the amount of heat that is released or absorbed during a chemical reaction. “I am personally an atheist, but if #45 would die as a result of this virus, I might reconsider,” Wigmans wrote in the email. In a short comment to Campus Reform, Wigmans claimed that his email

Reports: Virus Death Toll in Wuhan over 10x China’s Official Number

Multiple reports analyzing the number of urns carrying remains of the dead in Wuhan, the Chinese city where the current coronavirus pandemic originated, distributed this weekend suggests that the Communist Party may be downplaying the true number of dead by at least an order of magnitude. China had kept most of Wuhan quarantined for months, welding families shut into their homes and apartments to keep them from contaminating more people. While medical experts have traced the first case of Chinese coronavirus back to Wuhan in November 2019, dictator Xi Jinping did not visit the city of 11 million people until the week of March 10, shortly before the Chinese Communist Party began allowing businesses to reopen and claiming that doctors were not diagnosing any more coronavirus cases in the city. With the city recent reopened, the government finally began allowing families to go to funeral homes and pick up the ashes of their relatives who died of coronavirus infection last week. Citing f
