Sean Spicer: I Will Continue My Service Through August

It’s been two weeks since White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned in protest of Anthony Scaramucci’s hiring as the new White House communications director. Despite resigning in protest, Spicer has since spoken favorably about the Trump administration, telling CNN he left the White House out of a desire “to give the president and the new team a clean slate.”

Having served the president from the inauguration until July 21st, Spicer’s tenure as the president’s press secretary was the shortest since the departure of Jake Siewert, who served 111 days in the Clinton administration. Spicer lasted only 181 days, but he says he’s open to returning to the White House (way) down the road.

According to Politico,

Outgoing White House press secretary Sean Spicer may be in search of a new professional opportunity, but he’s already offered his services to a potential presidential campaign – that of Vice President Mike Pence in 2024.

“When and if @mike_pence runs in 2024 I would proudly play any role he asks. Good to know you have already conceded that,” Spicer wrote on Twitter late Sunday night in response to an online post from Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), who wrote that “Mike Pence is somewhere planning an inauguration. Priebus and Spicer will lead the transition.”

Waters’ tweet, posted on Saturday, seemed like a jab at Spicer and recently-ousted former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, two former top officials at the Republican National Committee who have departed from President Donald Trump’s administration in recent weeks, leaving it with somewhat weaker ties to the GOP establishment

Maxine Waters has said she’ll run for President in 2020 “if millennials want her to,” and we can only hope she does…
