NFL Ticket Sales PLUNGE — and Guess Who’s Being Blamed

Despite the liberal narrative that those NFL players taking a knee are showing their love for America in their own unique way (a claim actually made by CNN’s Don Lemon with a straight face), most Americans are smart enough to know the reality of the situation.

When Colin Kaepernick began taking a knee last year, he made it explicitly clear it was out of disrespect for America: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he said.

If expressing complete disdain for one’s nation is Don Lemon’s idea of showing your love for it, I guess he might have a point. In other words, up is down and left is right.

From Kaepernick’s protest to entire teams taking the knee, polls consistently show that the majority of NFL fans and Americans didn’t approve of them. As those players exercise their free speech, NFL fans are doing the same in their own way, and voting with their dollars.

According to the Washington Examiner,

The National Football League is feeling the impact of the “Trump Effect.”

Ticket sales since he called on team owners to fire players who take a knee to protest the National Anthem have cratered.

The online ticket reseller TickPick told Secrets that sales have dropped 17.9 percent, far more than the usual Week Three fall.

From TickPick:

[There has been a]17.9 percent decrease in NFL orders this week compared to the previous week. Last year, the drop was 10.8 percent in orders on Monday & Tuesday following Week Three games.

“We have seen a massive decrease in NFL ticket purchases this past week in comparison to years past. Week 3 seems to usually have less ticket orders than week 2, but this year ticket purchases are down more than 7 percent from this time last year,” said TickPick’s Jack Slingland.

We only take issue with the claim that the “Trump effect” is responsible. Aside from some crazies on the far-far-left, most Americans don’t approve of the protests, regardless of their political affiliation.
Sports are supposed to be an escape from the craziness of politics. There aren’t many people who want to spend their Sundays being hit over the head with an oppression narrative by players who make the equivalent of an average fan’s lifetime earnings in one month.
