Roseanne Clashes With Former Co-Stars Over Valerie Jarrett Tweet: ‘You Throw Me Under the Bus’

Actress Roseanne Barr had some tough words for her co-star Michael Fishman, the man who played her son on her show “Roseanne.”

Fishman distanced himself from Barr’s tweet in which she commented on former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett’s appearance:

In a statement posted to Twitter, Fishman said he condemned Barr’s comments “vehemently”:

“We must stand-up against; bias, hatred, bigotry, and ignorance to make society a better place for all,” Fishman said. He described his character David as “designed to represent the inclusive nature” of his views.

In response, Barr said she was the one who created the platform for that inclusivity:

“[I] created the platform for that inclusivity and you know it,” she said.

Actress Sara Gilbert, who played Fishman’s sister Darlene, also criticized Barr’s comments, calling them “abhorrent”:

“This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us,” Gilbert said.

Before ABC canceled Barr’s show, it reportedly contacted Jarrett who recalled the network saying it “had zero tolerance for that sort of racist, bigoted comment.”

Barr later defended herself, saying that she didn’t even realize that Jarrett was African-American when she posted her controversial tweet:
