Trump Stuns, Announces He’s Giving a ‘Full Pardon’ to Dinesh D’Souza

On Thursday morning, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to announce he is giving a “full pardon” to Dinesh D’Souza and added that “he was treated very unfairly by our government!”

D’Souza pleaded guilty to making an illegal campaign contribution in 2014 after he donated $20,000 to Wendy Long, a New York politician. According to the indictment, D’Souza gave the maximum personal contribution, $5,000 to Long and then directed others to donate, which he then reimbursed.

Benjamin Brafman, D’Souza’s attorney explained that he “did not act with any corrupt or criminal intent whatsoever … at worst this was an act of misguided friendship by D’Souza.”

The news set off a firestorm of angry responses on Twitter:
