Obama Says He Regrets People Focusing So Much on Him — Gets Wave of ‘Narcissism’ Accusations
While speaking at a Democratic fundraiser on Thursday, President Barack Obama shared his one regret from his time in office.
Obama didn’t say he regretted saying people could keep their doctors if they wanted to, the Internal Revenue Service scandal, or the attack in Benghazi, Libya.
Instead, according to Politico, he thought people focused too much on him rather than other politicians after his party lost the House of Representatives in 2010:
“I’ll be honest with you, if I have a regret during my presidency, it is that people were so focused on me and the battles we were having, particularly after we lost the House, that folks stopped paying attention up and down the ballot.”
Some on Twitter saw those comments as narcissistic:
Obama's excuse for the demise of the democrat's power base during his presidency is that he was so important that no one cared about anyone else but him politically. Wow. Narcissistic much? I think that voters didn't like the direction the US was headed in and that he got a pass.

OMG. This guy has visions of grandeur! Sick.

Ah, the narcissism of the cuadillo continues

Isn't that comment bordering on the pathological? He is incapable of self-examination.

During his speech, he also told his fellow Democrats to buck up and start fighting harder before the 2018 midterms:
“If you are one of these folks who is watching cable news at your cocktail parties with your friends and you are saying ‘civilization is collapsing’ and you are nervous and worried, but that is not where you are putting all your time, energy and money, then either you don’t actually think civilization is collapsing … or you are not pushing yourself hard enough and I would push harder.”
His comments appeared to be a criticism of the nation’s state under President Donald Trump.
While Obama didn’t name Trump, he seemed to attack Trump’s tactics, alleging that he promoted fear.
“Telling people that somebody’s out to get you, or somebody took your job, or somebody has it out for you […] that’s an old story and it has shown itself to be powerful in societies all around the world,” he said.
“It is a deliberate, systematic effort to tap into that part of our brain that carries fear in it,” he added.
