Andrew Cuomo and Cynthia Nixon Rip Into Each Other During Debate: If You Stop Lying, I’ll Stop Interrupting

As New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) and his primary challenger, Cynthia Nixon, took to the debate stage Wednesday night, things got very heated between the two.

Topics debated between the two ranged from the subway system to universal healthcare, which Nixon accused Cuomo of not taking a stronger stance to have a Medicare for All plan in the state.

While discussing the subway in New York City, Cuomo was interrupted at different times by Nixon, visibly irritating him.

“My opponent lives in the world of fiction, I live in the world of fact,” Cuomo said, explaining how the subway is run by the city, not the state.

When Nixon interjected how the state is truly in charge of the subway, Cuomo had enough.

“Can you stop interrupting? Can you stop interrupting?” Cuomo asked.

“Can you stop lying?” Nixon retorted.

“Yeah, as soon as you do,” the governor shot back.

Watch the video below:

Cuomo continued to say the state provides some funds to the subway system, which got a response from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio:

After the debate, Nixon showed she was eager for another verbal joust with Cuomo:

Real Clear Politics shows the Cuomo is polling at an average of 59.5 percent, with Nixon polling an average 26 percent.
