An Uber driver and his passenger had a close call after a man cut them off on the road and got out of his pickup truck saying he had a gun. The dash camera on Uber driver, Robert Westlake’s, car showed he had to stop on the road after pickup truck driver, Jason Boek, cut him off and stopped. Boek then got out of his vehicle and started to aggressively walk over to him. “You know I got a pistol? You want me to f**king shoot you,” Boek shouted as he raised his arm with a dark object in his hand. That’s when Westlake pulled his own firearm and shot Boek once, killing him. It was later revealed that Boek did not have a gun on him, as he was holding his cellphone instead. According to a poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal, 54 percent of Americans find kneeling during the national anthem to be “inappropriate.” Only 43 percent of respondents found kneeling to be an appropriate form of protest. The NFL’s real problem isn’t that people find the national anthem protest to be inappropriate, but that more Americans aren’t watching the games at all. The survey results showed that 31 percent of Americans don’t follow the NFL “closely.” That is up 10 percent from 2014. Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, was the first NFL player to take a knee during the anthem to draw attention to the issue of police brutality. WRAL-TV reports that it received 400 pages of emails and texts sent to and from Police Chief Chris Blue around the time of the protest.
