The U.S. Supreme Court dealt a major blow to Planned Parenthood on Tuesday, refusing to take up a case against an Arkansas law strictly limiting medication-induced abortions. The high court’s rejection means a 2015 law could soon take effect in the conservative state. The controversial measure requires abortion providers to have contractual agreements with doctors who have hospital admitting privileges, Bloomberg reported. The lawsuit, filed by the only two Planned Parenthood clinics in Arkansas, argued no obstetrician in the state would agree to the contract required by the law. It should be noted that pair of clinics only offers medication-induced abortions, which can be performed until the ninth week of pregnancy. Steve King has named his bill the Mayor Libby Schaaf Act, after the Oakland mayor who in February tipped off illegal immigrants to an impending immigration enforcement sweep. Maxine Waters is paying her daughter more than $100,000 in campaign funds this election cycle, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation. Citizens for Waters has already paid $42,862 to the congresswoman’s daughter, Karen Waters, since the beginning of 2017, FEC files show. The campaign is scheduled to pay the younger Waters another $65,000 for her “professional services” working on a “slate mailer,” according to the most recent FEC files. Rep. Waters’s campaign debt to her daughter was first noted in April 2017 by the Washington Free Beacon. The campaign had yet to report any payments on the debt at that time.
